Once we hit October and Halloween passes us by, then it seems like the Holiday season is in full swing. I wanted to share a couple fun turkey treat ideas to take to your Thanksgiving gatherings, for school parties, or just for fun! :)
I made the Rice Krispy Turkeys with my younger brother and sister while I was student teaching, and my Aunt Lisa made the fruit turkey and brought it to our family dinner a few years back. She got the recipe out of a magazine (possibly Family Circle) I hope you enjoy these and find the instructions simple. Let me know in the comments if you have any questions. I originally found the idea for the Rice Krispy Turkey Treats on The Finer Things in Life's blog here.
The Fruit Turkey
Here is the picture my aunt has of the recipe (again, she thinks it may have been from Family Circle Magazine but not 100% sure)
Rice Krispy Turkey Treats
You will need:
2 Boxes Rice Krispies
1 bag Mini Marshmallows
1 or 2 packages Oreos (we broke a lot of them so I suggest 2)
Chocolate Frosting (this will be used as your "glue")
Candy Corn
1. Separate the Oreo and wipe white frosting off of both sides using a butter knife (You can eat that or toss it, you won't need it. Try not to break too many Oreos...HAHA. We had a bowl of broken ones we nibbled on while working.
2. Make the Rice Krispy treats following the directions on the box, then roll them into about 2 inch balls.
3. Cover an Oreo with Chocolate frosting and place the Rice Krispy ball in the middle (put another Oreo covered in frosting on the back) and add your candy corn using the chocolate frosting as glue.
Here's the finished product! Yummy, and adorable!
