As Easter is quickly approaching, once again...many of us will reflect on the true meaning of Easter. I don't know about you, but growing up I wasn't always sure what the purpose of the day was....
Hiding eggs? Eating candy? Going to Church? (even though we didn't go on a regular basis)?
I am happy to share this adorable idea for sharing with your children/ Sunday school children/ family, or friends the true meaning of Easter. Back when I lived in Washington State, we had a neighbor named Karin who had children the same age as my siblings who are 12 years younger than I am. She was always doing cute little crafts with them that were faith based, and it melted my heart. We didn't go to Church much, and she was a wonderful influence who was always shining the love of Jesus into our lives. I am happy to say I now walk closely and work on my relationship with the Lord, but back then I didn't. I am so thankful she was there to show this to my little brother and sister before I was ready to take on that role as well. She home schools her children and used to be a teacher. I am a teacher as well, so I am very proud to show you this craft. I taught Sunday school at a few different churches, this would have been so fun to do on Easter!
Empty Easter Tomb Biscuits
You will need:
*Pillsbury Biscuits
*Marshmallows
So, you are going to make these adorable biscuits that will begin with marshmallows inside (Jesus in the tomb) and after baking, the marshmallow will melt and Jesus has Risen!
1. Spread out the biscuit a little bit and flatten it so that the marshmallow will fit in the middle.
2. Fold over half of the biscuit
3. Make sure you shut the pouch and it should have some extra room in there so that the marshmallow doesn't push it open.
Once you put the biscuits into the oven, you can explain how it would have felt to be betrayed. Can they think of an example from their own lives? How did it feel? Making connections is key, just simply telling the story won't hit home unless they are able to relate to their own lives and imagine how he must have felt.
4. When it's done baking, take a look at this open empty tomb!!! How neat is that?! This would be the perfect time to explain the rest of the story.
I would suggest supplementing with an appropriate children's book - Here are a few that would be nice:
Matthew 28:5-6
5The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. 6"He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.

I love this craft! I found your page recently while looking for Mother's Day ideas for Sunday School and now I have an idea for Easter next year! Thanks!!!
